The challenge

The new leadership in the department of the engine development was seeing the need for a mindset and culture change in the organization. The environment in which the organization operates had changed radically, and with it the demands on the department. Current challenges could not anymore be mastered with the patterns of success from previous years. The implementation mode dominated the work, there was a strong need for more power, attention and resources for creative and agile work.

Our approach

  • A tailored change process following the transformation journey of ICG, analysing the current state, identifying hot issues and creating initiatives with high energy to change the status quo
  • Forming a team of „young innovators“ driving the change
  • Educating a team of internal innovation coaches to support teams

The results

  • Concrete business success stories coming from 12 innovation projects initiated over 2 years
  • 30 professionally educated internal innovation coaches supporting teams in innovation work
  • Multiple initiatives implemented fostering a creative mindset: creative spaces throughout the buildings, a yearly innovation award program, innovation budget fixed, innovation anchored in the target setting for leaders
  • High engagement in the whole organization via the active young innovator network
